Upscale-Contemporary Corona, CA Real Estate

Corona, originally named South Riverside, originated at the beginning of the SO CAL Citrus craze in the late 1800’s, and is strategically located at the upper end of the Santa Ana River Canyon, a major pass through the Santa Ana Mountains. The Corona Real Estate market was once named the “Lemon Capital of the World”. A museum in the city of Corona presents the lemon’s former position in the local economy. The Corona residential market derived its name Circle City from the curious layout of its streets, with a standard grid enclosed by the circular Grand Boulevard. The design was created by Hiram Kellogg, a civil engineer from California who was an influential figure in the early development of Orange County. Corona was establish as a town by the South Riverside Land and Water Company. The company was incorporated after 1885. Originally located in San Bernardino County, the Corona community was named South Riverside and received its post office in that name in 1887. In 1896m the city was renamed Corona for its circular Grand Boulevard, where three international automobile races were held. The Corona homes for sale have been popular among celebrities drawn to its upscale areas and relative privacy compared to Los Angeles.

In recent years the Corona real estate market has been known as the Gateway to the Inland Empire. Prior to the 1980’s, the city was a largely agricultural community, dominated by dairy farms, ranches and citrus orchards. High real estate prices in Orange and Los Angeles counties made the land desirable to developers and industrialist, and by the late 1990’s Corona was considered a major suburb of Los Angeles. The Corona properties are found in a city that is considered a bedroom community of orange County, Los Angeles and the larger cities of the Inland Empire. The development of commerce and industry in the city has been accelerated by access to the area via the Riverside Freeway, with many firms leaving northern Orange County go be closer to their employees’ homes in Corona and Riverside. The construction of the nearby Chino Valley Freeway has linked Corona to the Pomona and San Gabriel Valleys. In 2002, the city government considered an initiative to secede from Riverside County and form an autonomous Corona County because the city government and some residents were dissatisfied with how services were handled in nearby areas.

Quality of life and green space are the threads that bind trending neighborhoods in and around Corona. Residents want the convenience and access that urban living provides, and seek neighborhoods with walking streets and minimal traffic with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Hot neighborhoods are the ones where buyer demand exceeds the supply. In the Corona real estate market, these Corona properties are near excellent schools or very close to downtown. Ability to walk to conveniences has become a new demand. Older neighborhoods that are close to restaurants, corner grocers and shopping are starting to attract buyers that are willing to pay a premium.
